WARM SPRINGS, OR (KPTV) -

A Vancouver man was killed in a crash near Warm Springs when a pickup crossed the centerline of Highway 26 and hit his SUV.

Emergency crews responded to Milepost 93 at 9 p.m. Friday.

Investigators said a 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Juan Guerrero Gomez, 42, of Gresham, was heading west on Highway 26 when it veered into oncoming traffic.

The pickup collided head-on with a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Matthew Hiller, 42, of Vancouver.

Hiller was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the SUV, 44-year-old Wendy Hiller, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A 1-year-old in the SUV also suffered minor injuries, while a 12-year-old was flown to a Bend hospital with injuries described as serious.

Gomez was treated for minor injuries at the hospital, according to police. He didn't have any passengers in his truck.

Witnesses reported heavy snow falling at the time of the crash. No other possible factors were immediately released by police.

Investigators said seatbelts and child safety restraints were used and airbags deployed in both vehicles.
