Person, dog die in two-alarm Estacada house fire; cause under investigation

ESTACADA, OR (KPTV) -

One person and a dog died in a two-alarm house fire in Estacada.

Firefighters responded to the 34000 block of Southeast Coupland Road at 10:48 a.m. Monday.

Crews arrived on scene to find the home 70 percent involved in flames, leading to a second alarm.

There were two people in the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters said one person escaped without injury, but the second person died.

No information was immediately released about the victim, other than it was an adult.

A dog also died in the fire, according to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is being investigated by the Estacada Rural Fire District and the Oregon State Fire Marshal's office.

Estacada Rural Fire District No. 69, Clackamas Fire District No. 1 and Sandy Fire District No. 72 all responded to the scene.
