Vancouver bank robbery puts middle school in lockdown

A bank robber is on the loose after he robbed an Umpqua Bank in Vancouver on Monday morning.

Officers responded to the bank on the 10700 block of Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard at 10:30 a.m.

Police said the male suspect entered the bank, demanded money and ran away.

Officers searched the area, but did not locate the robber.

He is described as a man in his 40s wearing a scarf over his face. Investigators said no weapon was seen or implied.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Department.

Covington Middle School was placed in modified lockdown for 45 minutes while police investigated and searched the area.
