CLOVERDALE, OR (KPTV) -

Rescue crews are searching for a 17-year-old hiker who fell into the ocean near Cape Kiwanda.

The U.S. Coast Guard received a report of a person in the water at around 3 p.m. Monday.

A woman called for help saying she was hiking on the trail above the ocean when her friend slipped and fell.

The Coast Guard later reported the person who fell is a 17-year-old girl.

During the search, two local fire and rescue personnel who were searching the area on jet skis reportedly fell into the water as sea conditions began to worsen and were rescued by the Coast Guard.

Two Coast Guard helicopters and a boat crew responded to the area, but by 8 p.m. the hiker had not been located and the search was continuing.
