PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Fire crews were called back to a vacant house in southeast Portland for an arson fire just minutes after they had finished putting out a fire in that location earlier Monday night.

Portland firefighters first arrived at the house at 5017 SE 88th Ave. around 6 p.m.

Because of extensive clutter, crews fought the fire from the outside and contained the blaze an hour later.

Firefighters continued to put out hot spots and left the location around 8:30 p.m.

Just 23 minutes later, around 9 p.m. crews were called back to 88th Avenue to the same vacant house for another fire.

Neighbors told firefighters they heard an explosion and looked out the window to find the entire first floor on fire.

Crews said it took about 30 minutes to contain the second fire.

Portland Fire & Rescue said the second fire was arson. Crews are currently investigating both fires.
