PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Some have called it a 'meow-sterpiece.' Others call it the 'world's greatest painting of cats.'

Whatever you call it, My Wife's Lovers by Carl Kahler is now on display at the Portland Art Museum.

The museum made the announcement on Instagram Tuesday:

The 1891 painting was supposed to go on display in January, but the museum said winter weather caused delays and rerouting of the shipment.

According to the museum's website, My Wife's Lovers was commissioned by San Francisco millionaire Kate Birdsall Johnson, who owned 42 cats.

The painter, Carl Kahler, died in the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, but the painting survived. In 1949, Cat Magazine dubbed it the 'world's greatest painting of cats.'

The museum said it planned to display the painting until May 15, so there's plenty of time to go see it in person.

More information on the painting is available at the Portland Art Museum website.
