Here's something Oregonians haven't seen for a while: Gas for less than $2 per gallon.

The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded dipped Thursday morning to $1.99, according to AAA.

Low prices for crude oil mean the price of gas is cheap nationwide. AAA says the national average of $1.77 a gallon is the lowest its been in seven years.

Though Oregon's average is under $2, the Portland area is slightly more expensive on average, at $2.02.

Some parts of the state have been below $2 a gallon for some time. The Eugene-Springfield area, for example, has an average price of $1.92 per gallon and has been below $2 for over a week.

Prices remain a little higher in Washington, where the average price was about $2.13 as of Thursday morning.
