Three injured in Newberg duplex fire

Three people were injured after a fire broke out in a duplex apartment in Newberg, according to the Newberg Fire Department.

Fire crews responded to the fire on North Morton Street just after 2 a.m. Friday. Officials said the initial 911 caller reported that flames were seen inside the house.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found flames coming from multiple windows.

One apartment was fully involved in flames, and threatening the adjoining apartment.

Both residents of the apartment that was on fire were injured.

One woman suffered second degree burns and was transported to a local trauma center.

The other person was treated for minor injuries at the scene, according to fire crews.

A person living in the adjoining apartment suffered minor injuries after trying to help the two victims get out of the fire. They were also treated and released at the scene.

A dog was found under a mattress in the apartment and was rescued by fire crews with no apparent injuries, according to the Newberg Fire Department.

Fire crews said the fire was under control just after 3 a.m.

According to officials, the fire caused $125,000 worth of damage.

The family who lived in the duplex lost everything in the fire, and a GoFundme has been created for them.
