PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An elderly woman claims she was duped by a real estate agent to sell her home and now faces a legal battle with the new buyers to get it back.

Josephine Gantt, 82, has filed a lawsuit asking to block the sale of her home.

According to the court documents, Gantt says she has poor eyesight and was duped into signing away a home she's had for almost 50 years.

Gantt claims in the suit she asked realtor Erin Renwick about the value of her home, and that over the next year Renwick repeatedly called her and sent her gifts, pushing her to sell her home.

According to the suit, Renwick had Gantt sign a slate of papers, which amounted to agreeing to sell her home to a buyer that Renwick had found.

Gantt claimed to have begged Renwick to reconsider after finding out what happened but contends the real estate agent refused

Jacquelyn Kelly, a neighbors of Gantt who has lived nearby for over 30 years, said Gantt put her heart and soul into her home and would never want to sell it.

"She's out in her yard working, she loves her home, it's really obvious she's done stuff to fix it up and I really think she cares about her home,” Kelly said. “I can't imagine her wanting to sell her home. She's been here for a really long time."

Speaking to Fox 12 by phone Friday, Renwick said her lawyer has advised her not to talk about the case at this time, though she insists the claims are untrue and wants to tell her story when the time is right.
