A missing woman and her Rottweiler were found on the side of a cliff above the ocean on the Oregon coast.

A person called for help at 12:35 p.m. Monday after spotting the woman about 150 feet beneath the top of the cliff and 60 feet above the rocks below at the end of Collis Lane in Brookings.

Brookings officers, firefighters and the Curry County Sheriff's Office search and rescue rope team all responded to the scene.

A rope system was set up to reach the woman, using a fire truck as an anchor point.

A search and rescue team member rappelled down over the edge and secured the woman, identified as 35-year-old April Sachanowski of Brookings, along with her large dog, into separate harnesses.

Ryan McGinnis then attached both the woman and the dog to himself and they were all raised back to the top.

Sachanowski was checked by a medical crew at the scene, but she did not seek additional treatment.

Investigators said Sachanowski was reported missing the night before by her boyfriend.

She said she had been walking on the beach the previous night when the tide came in and trapped her in a cove.

Sachanowski said she and her dog tried to climb up the cliff, but got stuck in a spot where she could not go up or down.

"The teamwork between all agencies was amazing which led to the safe recovery of Sachanowski and her K-9 companion," a Curry County Sheriff's Office release states.

The U.S. Coast Guard had been called to possibly assist and dispatched a helicopter from the North Bend Air Station.
