PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

At Central Catholic’s three-on-three basketball tournament, the Children’s Cancer Association is winning big.

RamJam 2K16 is a fundraiser for the organization.

In its second year, the event has grown to 54 teams who participate in either the fun bracket or a more competitive bracket.

Central Catholic sophomore Gabby Horne and principal John Garrow came up with the idea for the tournament last year.

“We never expected it to be this big. It was just something to get students more involved,” Horne said.

Students have gotten involved in a big way.

They plan, market and run the week-long event.

If they aren’t participating in the tournament, many of the students are in the stands cheering for their friends.

“Honestly it’s just so exciting to be able to help CCA in that way,” said Julia Johnson, a senior who helped market the event. “The organization is all about providing joy and helping kids with serious medical needs just be happy and kind of forget about all of that serious stuff in their lives and just kind of have fun.”
