TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

Tigard police hope a near-miss involving one of their officers will help drivers understand the importance of watching for motorcyclists.

The police department posted video from a body-worn camera on Facebook Wednesday.

In the video, a motorcycle officer preparing to stop an SUV is nearly side-swiped by a driver in the next lane over.

The officer then changes course and pulls over the driver that almost ran the officer off the road instead.

Police said the video should serve as a reminder to drivers to be vigilant and always check their blind spots, especially as the weather begins to warm up and more motorcyclists begin to ride on area roads.
