One killed, several injured in NE Portland crash; suspect sought

One person was killed and several people were injured after a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

North Precinct officers and Gresham firefighters responded just after 5:30 a.m. to the report of a crash on Northeast 157th and Halsey Street.

According to Portland Police, the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash fled the scene. He has been identified as 36-year-old David Augustine Saucedo.

Saucedo was identified after officers found his drivers license in the car.

Officers learned that the passenger vehicle being driven by Saucedo was traveling north on 157th Avenue, and failed to stop at at stop sign and crashed into the driver of a pick-up truck was was traveling east on Halsey Street.

The driver of the pick-up was alone, according to police. Officials said Saucedo had four other people in his car, one of whom died at the scene.

Two passengers that remained in the car after the crash were transported with non-life threatening injuries in addition to the driver of the pick-up.

Officers also located a passenger that ran from the crash scene. They were also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Saucedo is now wanted for felony hit-and-run charges.

The Traffic Division’s major crash team is responding to conduct an investigation.

Halsey, between 155th and 162nd Avenues have been reopened after being closed for several hours.
