SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

The Oregon State Capitol Foundation celebrated Oregon’s 157th birthday in Salem Saturday.

Because Oregon’s birthday, February 14th, is on a Sunday this year, the celebration came a day early.

The event went on from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and featured music, costumed interpreters, games, free birthday cake, a passport to a gift bag for children, and a raffle drawing.

The Oregon State Constitution was also on display in the Rotunda during the celebration, and members from the State Archives were on hand to talk about the document and its history.

An exhibit of winning essays from the Salem-Keizer School District ‘Why I Love Oregon’ essay contest was also featured during the event.
