Driver facing criminal charges for Salem crash that killed pedestrian

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A driver is facing criminal charges including second-degree manslaughter for a crash that killed a pedestrian in Salem on Saturday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the area of 25th Street Southeast and Claude Street Southeast at 6:25 p.m.

Investigators said a woman was crossing 25th Street when she was hit by a car. Police said she died as a result of her injuries.

The driver of the car was identified Monday by police as Jonathan Lane Combs, 32, of Salem.

Lane was arrested on charges of second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person. He was booked in the Marion County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

Police have not identified the victim. Detectives also have not released any other details about the crash or this investigation.
