PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man who shot his roommate twice is facing the charge of attempted murder, according to Portland police.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home on the 6700 block of Southeast Pardee Street at 1:49 a.m. Sunday.

Officers arrived and located the suspect outside the home. James Reed Dean, 37, was taken into custody.

Medical crews arrived and took the 28-year-old shooting victim to a Portland hospital. Police said he suffered two gunshot wounds, but is expected to survive his injuries.

Investigators learned the two men rented rooms in the same house and had been involved in disputes over the previous 24 hours leading to the shooting.

Officers seized the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.

Dean was interviewed by assault detectives before being booked into the Multnomah County Jail on the charge of attempted murder.

Dean is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
