FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

Pacific University on Tuesday unveiled the university's newly designated all-gender bathrooms.

The Undergraduate Student Senate first came up with the idea and had been working hard to get the bathrooms into place throughout campus.

Benjamin Becerra, vice president of the school's Undergraduate Student Senate, said the all-gender bathrooms are a huge addition for the transgender and gender non-conforming students on campus.

"Especially with the number that we have, it's much better than just having two in the university center," Becerra said. "They are distributed all across campus so that when students are in class, when students are anywhere on campus, they can go to the bathroom and not have any sort of worry."

The university has more than 30 single-user, locking restrooms that is has designated as all-gender bathrooms. New signs labeling the restrooms as all-gender will be installed at the university's Forest Grove, Hillsboro and Woodburn campuses as well.
