SCAPPOOSE, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon is well-represented at this year's Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

An Alaskan Malamute from Scappoose competed in the dog show on Tuesday.

5-year-old Mick was awarded Best in Breed, meaning he's the number one Malamute in the country. Mick won the Best in Breed last year as well.

FOX 12 spoke with his owners at Madison Square Garden where the event was held. They said Mick lives for the spotlight.

"He's just one who just adores to do this, and if he didn't like it, we would not have done two and a half years of this. And this is something that he absolutely loves," said Mick's owner, Thea Robinson.

Mick competed in Best in Group but unfortunately he did not win in that category.

Best in Show went to CJ, a German shorthaired pointer.

Mick's owners said he will not compete in any more North American dog competitions. He will now go on to compete in Latin America, Europe and Russia.
