DOUGLAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Drivers will have to find and alternate route when driving through Tyee Access Road near Umpqua.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said massive boulders came down across the roadway about 15 miles west of Sutherlin Tuesday, completely blocking both lanes.

ODOT said steep slopes along roads and highways are prone to landslides due to weak rock and soil. Heavy rainfall and soil saturation only increases the chances of slides.

There is no word yet on how long Tyee Access Road will remain closed.
