SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Police arrested a hit-and-run suspect accused of running away from the crash scene and leaving behind a critically injured passenger.

Jason Alba, 31, is facing charges for the crash earlier this month in Salem, as well as charges related to heroin and methamphetamine.

Investigators said Alba was driving a 2000 BMW when he turned left into the path of a 2007 Chrysler 300 at Portland Road Northeast and Hyacinth Street at 10 p.m. Feb. 4 causing a T-bone crash.

The driver of the Chrysler suffered minor injuries, according to police, while Alba's 22-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries initially described as life-threatening.

Police said Alba ran away from the scene.

On Wednesday, police said probable cause was developed to arrest Alba as the driver of the BMW.

He was booked in the Marion County Jail on charges of failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an injury accident, as well as charges of unlawful possession and delivery of heroin and meth, and delivery of heroin and meth within 1,000 feet of a school.

Alba was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
