PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The varsity basketball coach at Lincoln High School accused of making racist comments has been suspended by Portland Public Schools.

Patrick Adelman was in his first year teaching at Lincoln. He's the son of former Trail Blazers coach Rick Adelman.

A mother filed a complaint against Adelman claiming that the coach dragged her son into the locker room and used him as a prop.

The complaint goes on to claim that Adelman accused the team of losing because they're "racist" and "afraid to touch black students.”

A school district spokesperson said the investigation is now complete and a new varsity head coach will take over for the remainder of the season.

Adelman is scheduled to return for his head coaching duties next season.
