PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The James Beard Foundation on Wednesday announced the semifinalists for this year's competition, and the list features more chefs and restaurants in Portland than ever before.

Up for Best New Restaurant is Coquine. In the running for Outstanding Chef is Gabriel Rucker of Le Pigeon. Kim Boyce of The Bakeshop is up for Outstanding Baker, and Kristen Murray of Maurice is up for Outstanding Pastry Chef.

Three Portland chefs – Imperial's Doug Adams and Nomad's Ryan Fox and Ali Matteis – got spots in the Rising Star Chef of the Year category. That looks at chefs who are 30 years old or younger making a "significant impact on the industry in years to come."

And in case you didn't know, the James Beard himself was born in Portland.

The James Beard Foundation has a full list of the semifinalists on its website
