PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after he robbed a Fred Meyer store with a knife on Feb. 13.

Portland Police said Eric Alan Van Nice was shoplifting at a Fred Meyer, located at 7404 North Interstate Avenue, when he pulled a knife on the store's loss prevention officers (LPO). Van Nice fled the store but was known to LPOs from previous contacts.

On Feb. 14, an LPO saw Van Nice and called 911. Officers arrived and searched a greenspace next to I5, where they found Van Nice in a tent.

Van Nice was arrested and taken to the Multnomah County Jail on charges of robbery in the first degree and robbery in the second degree.

Police said detectives searched Van Nice's tent and found the knife used in the robbery.
