Blazers return for first practice after All-Star break

Posted: Updated:

After playing their best ball of the season so far, the Trail Blazers have 28 regular season games left to play. After a week, the players came back together on Wednesday for their first post All-Star break practice as they push towards the postseason.

Sitting 7th in the West with a 27-and-27 record, the Blazers could have a new look come Thursday's NBA trade deadline.

"I don't really see one trade turning us into a championship favorite. I would like to see the same guys that are in the locker room right now but it's also a business," said Damian Lillard.

Lillard and the other players who made the trek north to Toronto for All-Star weekend are well rested and freshened up for their stretch run for playoff seeding in the stiff Western Conference.

"Based on our record, it's not like we are underachieving. We are performing well and competing each and every night, so I think we are in a good place," said C.J. McCollum.

"We are going to do what we do on the court and let them do what they do, their job behind closed doors," said Lillard.

Already exceeding outside expectations, Portland's push towards a third straight trip to the postseason begins Friday for the first of four straight at home with the 48-4 Golden State Warriors.

"I think we are really comfortable with where we are at as far as how the coaching staff goes about it, how us players fell in our different unites as each other, just as a team. I think we are in a really good spot so again, we'll see what happens but I think we are in a really good spot," said Meyers Leonard.

After the 4 game home stand, 11 of their following 13 will be on the road.

NBA trade deadline is set for 12 p.m. Pacific Time Feb. 18.
