PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A burglar is still on the run after he went to extensive lengths to break into a pawn shop in southeast Portland early Thursday morning.

Police said the break-in took place at the Money Market Pawn Shop on Powell Boulevard and 136th Avenue around 2 a.m.

Surveillance video shows a man in a ski mask using chains, a rope, and a flatbed truck to try and pull the windows and bars off the front of the shop.

When the glass failed to break, the man took a sledge hammer and made a few dents in the glass and then tried again, according to surveillance video.

The second time, he succeeded in pulling off the windows and bars of the pawn shop.

According to another surveillance video, the man stepped inside with a duffel bag but realized everything inside was still locked. The suspect then fled the scene empty-handed.

The pawn shop’s owner of 16 years said he is not sure when he will be open for business again, but he said it will hopefully be soon.
