President Obama declared a state of major disaster in Oregon Wednesday and ordered federal aid to be given to the areas affected by the severe weather from last December’s storms.

According to a press release from The White House, federal aid will available to state, tribal and local recovery efforts in those areas affected by flooding, landslides, mudslides, and wind storms during the period of Dec. 6-23, 2015.

The White House said federal aid will be given on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair of facilities damaged by the severe weather conditions.

Counties on the list to receive federal aid include Clatsop, Columbia, Coos, Curry, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Multnomah, Polk, Tillamook, Washington, and Yamhill.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security named Dolph A. Diemont as the Federal Coordinating Officer for the affected area.

FEMA said additional aid could be rewarded later if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
