PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Trail Blazers acquired veteran power forward Anderson Varejao and a first-round draft pick in a three-team trade, then turned around and placed him on waivers Thursday afternoon.

Cleveland picked up former Blazer Channing Frye from Orlando, Orlando received a second-round pick from Portland and The Blazers got Varejao and a conditional 2018 first-round pick from Cleveland, according to reports.

Following reports of the trade, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, citing league sources, said the Blazers would likely waive Varejao.

The team officially announced the trade for Varejao on Thursday afternoon, while also announcing that guard Tim Frazier had been waived.

In another move, Wojnarowski reported the Blazers acquired guard Brian Roberts and a second-round pick from the Miami Heat.

In a tweet sent out on the team's communication department account just before 3:00 p.m., less than 80 minutes after announcing Varejao's acquisition, the Blazers announced that they had put the 12-year veteran on waivers.

The NBA's trade deadline was noon Thursday.
