SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

The family of a young mother said she was left to die in the middle of a road after a hit-and-run crash in Salem.

Taylor Goulet, 22, is slowly recovering. Her mother said she has no memory of the crash, and at one point didn't remember she had kids

Goulet was a passenger in a car that crashed earlier this month that police say was being driven by Jason Alba.

Officers claim the BMW driven by Alba swerved, hitting a vehicle driven by Valeria Garcia. After the accident, Alba took off, leaving both Garcia and Goulet injured at the scene.

While Garcia received only minor injuries, Goulet’s mother Anita said her daughter suffered a fractured skull and severe head trauma.

Her doctors say Goulet is improving slowly, day by day. While they think she will make a full recovery in time, her family is concerned about how she will support herself and her family.

“She's obviously not going to be able to be employed for a while,” Anita Goulet said. “She does have two children, they need care and she’s probably going to be having therapy to get to and what not. She's not going to be able to drive herself.”

Alba was tracked down by Salem Police and arrested for the hit-and-run and drug charges. He appeared in Marion County court Wednesday.

Goulet’s family has started a GoFundMe page for anyone wanting to help support Taylor and her family.
