SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon lawmakers have passed a new bill designed to keep marijuana out of the hands of kids.

On Friday, the state senate passed a bipartisan bill of marijuana guidelines. It requires the Oregon Health Authority to establish a youth marijuana-use prevention pilot project.

The bill also alters regulations on the new industry.

It removes a two-year residency requirement for grow sites, processors and retailers, which opens up investment opportunities for new businesses.

The bill now goes to Governor Kate Brown's desk for signature.
