Starbucks fans, time to get a fill up and do some math.

The Starbucks Rewards program, which awards points to fans of the coffee chain based on purchases, is seeing big changes, with points now awarded for every dollar spent instead of every visits, and new amounts of points needed for awards.

While the company says on its website that their customers’ top one of requests is changing the points system to one based on how much they spend, the new set-up may end up costing more to users.

After the change, which starts in April, customers will earn two stars for every dollar they spend at the coffee chain, as opposed to the single star per visit plan now in place. While that will mean more stars, fans will need them, since they have to get 125 stars for a free item instead of the current goal of 12 stars.

Starbucks said that they will offer more chances for double-star days and other ways to win, and say for many users who pick up more than one item at a time the rewards will come in faster.
