SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man stabbed his uncle after the two men got into a fight while drinking together at a Salem home, according to investigators.

Deputies responded to Salem Hospital on Sunday to investigate reports of an assault that took place on the 4900 block of Portland Road Northeast.

Enedino Leon-Lopez, 53, was taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds from an unknown object. He was later transferred to a hospital in Portland for further treatment, but he is expected to survive, according to deputies.

Investigators said Leon-Lopez had been "drinking heavily" with Rutilio Chavez-Leon, 42, of Salem, when they began physically fighting.

Chavez-Leon was arrested on the charge of second-degree assault. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
