PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An officer with the Portland Police Bureau has filed a lawsuit against a driver who rear-ended her patrol car, the bar where the driver was allegedly drinking and the city.

Officer Allison Renander is seeking over $318,000 from Gary Clark and the Tik Tok Restaurant, claiming that Clark, who was uninsured and pleaded guilty to DUII charges in the accident, was over-served at the restaurant on the night of February 27, 2015.

The amount Renander is seeking from Clark and the restaurant would cover medical expenses and lost wages, in addition to $300,000 in non-economic damages.

Renander said that when she notified the city about her claim in June of 2015, she was informed that the city, which is self-insured, only covered $25,000 per person in uninsured motorist coverage, and that she would waive the coverage by accepting disability benefits.

Renander counters that the city had not lowered the limit on claims to $25,000 at the time of the accident, and instead seeks $666,700 from city, or an amount to be determined via arbitration.
