One person hospitalized after fire destroys home in Cowlitz Co.

COWLITZ COUNTY, WA (KPTV) -

One person has been hospitalized after a fire destroyed a home in Cowlitz County Tuesday morning.

Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue said they responded to the house fire, located in the 100 block of Lexington Ave, around 10:05 a.m.

When crews arrived the two-story, 1,000 square foot home was mostly consumed by fire. The fire was under control and extinguished around 11:30 a.m.

Three people, two women and one man, inside the house were able to escape, including a dog. One woman was taken to Peace Health St. John Medical Center for smoke inhalation. She was later taken to Kaiser Permanente in Hillsboro for further treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

Fire officials said the home is considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
