VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Two teenagers were arrested and a third remains on the loose after police say they beat a man, stole his vehicle and then crashed it in a Vancouver neighborhood.

The incident occurred at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Vancouver Police responded to the Motel 6 on Northeast Chkalov Drive to investigate a report of a robbery. Officers arrived and found a 50-year-old man who had been severely beaten in the motel parking lot, and his vehicle was stolen.

The victim told police that a group of three suspects, all under age 18, approached him in his vehicle and demanded that he give them the keys. Two of the suspects began to beat him repeatedly until he gave up the keys, according to police.

Police say the suspects entered the vehicle with the victim still inside, but the victim jumped out of the vehicle and the suspects drove away.

The victim suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening and was treated by paramedics.

While police were investigating the incident, they received several 911 calls about a single-vehicle crash near Northeast 124th Avenue and Northeast 8th Street. Callers told police the vehicle had flipped over, and three teenagers were seen running from it.

Several neighbors reported hearing a loud crash and seeing the three teens running away from the car.

"You can tell something had happened. It wasn't like a little wreck or anything like that," said one neighbor. "It was a very loud noise like a bang, like something went off. It was scary."

The car's description matched that of the stolen vehicle, and police and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office went to the area and set up a containment to attempt to find the suspects.

Two of the suspects – one 15-year-old and one 16-year-old – were arrested and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of robbery in the first degree. The third suspect has not been caught.
