PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police are searching for a speeding driver, who pulled out a gun and fired two shots at a man who told him to slow down in a SE Portland neighborhood.

It happened just after 1:00 p.m. in the 5300 block of Southeast 111th Avenue.

The victim, who does not want to be identified, told Fox 12 he was visiting family at a home there and was pulling out of the driveway, when someone came flying down the street. He guessed the driver was going around 80 miles per hour in a 25 m.p.h. zone. He said he honked at the speeding driver, and told him to slow down, but he still can't believe what happened next.

"He went down to the other end of the street and stopped, and then he yelled out the window he was going to kill me and then pulled out a gun and fired two shots in my direction," the victim said.

He wasn't hurt, but the driver sped off.

Neighbors say they're not only concerned shots were fired in response to being told to slow down, but that they were fired from half a block away in the middle of an afternoon.

"It terrified me," said a neighbor who was outside gardening at the time.  "There were people walking, it was the middle of the day... Also what was shocking is that he had a firearm that readily handy, you know, to just pop it out the window like that."

The man who was fired at hopes the driver will be caught soon, and has an emotional plea to whoever pulled the trigger:

"I'm a father, I'm a brother, I have children, I have family that play on these streets. Slow down," he said, tearfully. "Nobody has to die over your anger or whatever it was that you were in such a hurry for that brought you to carry a weapon. It's over. Slow down."

Witnesses and the victim described the suspected shooter as a white man in his 30s with a skinny to fit build and bald. Witnesses also told police they saw a white woman in the passenger seat of the car, described as a silver 4-door sedan thought to be either an Audi or Honda.

Portland Police are asking anyone with information on this case to call the non-emergency tip line at 503-823-3333 or send a tip email to CrimeTips@portlandoregon.gov. The case number is #16-59784.
