PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Jack Jewsbury of the Portland Timbers has been known to stop by Hopworks Urban Brewery in southeast Portland after matches.
Next month, he'll arrive to find a new beer made in his honor and for the 2015 MLS Cup champions.
Hopworks is releasing "Captain Jack's Lucky 13 Championship IPA" on March 6. A release party is planned for 6 p.m., following the Timbers first match of the season that afternoon against the Columbus Crew.
"Jack will be at the pub to share a pint with fans after the first soccer match of the season," according to a release from Hopworks.
According to the brewery, the new northwest style IPA is a tribute to Portland's first MLS Cup championship, while "Lucky 13" references Jewsbury's jersey number and his 13th year in the league.
In addition to being on tap, Hopworks will also release a limited run of collector bottles.
A portion of this beer's proceeds are donated to Every Child, a Portland-based foster care program and Jewsbury's charity of choice.
