Tualatin police investigating thefts of propane tanks; possibly linked to hash oil

TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -

Propane tanks are being taken in Tualatin and police believe the thefts may be linked to the manufacturing of hash oil.

In the past week, officers have responded to two reports of stolen propane tanks.

The first case involved a tank stolen from a truck parked near a business on Southwest Bridgeport Road. The second theft happened at True Value Hardware on the 8400 block of Southwest Nyberg Road.

In that case, nine propane tanks were taken from a secured storage locker in front of the store.

Police are concerned that the rise in propane tank thefts could be related to producing hash oil.

There is no surveillance video of the crimes or suspect information at this time. Anyone with information about this investigation or possible suspects is asked to call the Tualatin Police Department at 503-691-4800.

Tualatin police said people and business owners are encouraged to take extra steps to ensure that propane tanks are secured and not easily accessible.
