PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A popular manufacturer of sippy cups says its making changes in response to concerns from parents who have found mold in the products.

Many parents have posted photos on social media, saying they found mold in the plastic valves of Tommee Tippee Sippee cups.

Clackamas, Oregon mom Sarah Wright said she heard a warning about someone finding mold in the valves and decided to check the ones she had at home.

Sure enough, Wright said she found mold when she cut them open.

Wright said she was concerned about the health of her twin daughters as a result.

"I am taking my twin girls to see their pediatrician today to make sure nothing had happened to them since they have drank out of the sippy cups," Wright said.

Tommee Tippee said on its website that it's working on a new sippy cup with a two-piece valve that will be easier to clean. It should be available in the next few months.

In the meantime, parents can request a see-through valve from the company by calling 1-877-248-6922.
