PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The longstanding Der Rheinlander in northeast Portland is, "under consideration for redevelopment," according to the restaurant's owner.

The German restaurant at 5035 N.E. Sandy Blvd. was founded in Portland in 1963. On Friday, Guten Foods, the restaurant's parent company, announced the future of the property will be discussed at an upcoming meeting between the city of Portland's Bureau of Development Services and an unnamed developer.

No other details were released.

"This process is lengthy and we are not yet sure what a potential sale might look like for the future of the building," said Suzeanne Mager, owner of Guten Foods. "For at least the balance of the year Der Rheinlander and Gustav's will continue to operate fully, and I anticipate no disruptions to our operations."

The restaurant was founded by Horst Mager and eventually purchased by Suzeanne Mager, one of his daughters, in the 1990s.

Suzanne Mager continues to own and operate both Der Rheinlander and Gustav's, with five locations around the metro area.
