Victims identified, suspect arrested in double murder investigation

Oregon State Police are investigating a double murder in Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting that occurred just before 6:50 p.m. Friday at SW Sand Ridge Road in Crooked River Ranch.

Oregon State Police, along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found two adults dead in a home. Police identified the victims as Bailee Southwick, 18, and Mackenzie Lyman, 21. Police confirmed that the suspect also lived in the same house.

The suspect in the shooting, Mitchell Morris, 20, of Crooked River Ranch, was found Saturday in Salem at approximately 11:20 a.m. and has been taken into custody. Police arrested him without incident.

Oregon State Police reports another man was in the car, was as not arrested and is cooperating with investigators.

If anyone has information about Morris’ whereabouts from Friday evening to the time of his arrest in Salem, call Oregon State Police.
