PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Friends and family members of 28-year-old Isaiah Kent gathered for a candlelight vigil Sunday evening to remember his life.

Kent was gunned down Thursday night, near NE 6th and Alberta, in Portland’s first homicide of 2016.

Kent’s stepmother, LaTryce Chaney, said Kent was getting his life moving in the right direction, and was a good older brother to her young son.

"I know his brother was proud of him, and I’m proud of him. Isaiah. If nothing else is said about him, is that man changed his life for the better," said Chaney.

Two men, 34-year-old Clifford Moffett and 24-year-old Terry Spencer, Jr., have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Both men face murder charges and will be appearing in court on Monday.
