One dead, two injured in head-on crash on Hwy 30

ASTORIA, OR (KPTV) -

One man is dead and two are injured after a head-on car crash took place on Highway 30 near Astoria Monday night.

Oregon State Police said Randall Haines, 29, of Astoria was driving eastbound on Hwy 30 about 20 miles east of Astoria around 5:30 p.m.

Police said Haines drifted onto the right shoulder, overcorrected and crashed head-on into a truck driven Edward Levick, 66, of Sequim, Washington. Nydia Levick, 97, was also a passenger inside the truck.

Haines was pronounced dead at the scene according to a press release.

Edward Levick was transported to an Astoria hospital while Nydia Levick was air lifted to Oregon Health & Science University for life threatening injuries, according to officials.

Highway 30 was closed in both directions for over three hours.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
