GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A driver was trapped in his truck after hitting a pole and knocking down power lines onto the vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to Northeast Hogan Place between Division Street and Hogan Road at around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said the driver backed into a pole and broke it. In a chain reaction, two more poles snapped and at least one other pole was leaning at the scene.

Police said it was an accident, but with the wires falling on the truck, the driver was unable to get out.

By 2:20 p.m., the driver was able to safely leave the truck. He was reportedly not injured.

Portland General Electric crews also responded to the scene.

Hogan Place was expected to be closed for hours.
