MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

Some little superheroes are saving the Earth one bottle at a time and because of their efforts, students at Ardenwald Elementary in Milwaukie met actors with Marvel Universe Live on Wednesday.

It was the prize for collecting more than 1,400 plastic bottles during a three-week recycling contest.

Superheroes Captain America and Storm showed kids some of their secret moves during the special assembly.

The actress who plays Storm said it is all about getting kids excited about the environment, and rewarding them for their hard work.

"Both superheroes and recycling are all about saving the world, and we're here with these kids who are actually doing something to save the planet, so it's all one in the same," said Amani Velma, who is with Marvel Universe Live.

The school also won 500 tickets to see Marvel Universe Live this week at the Moda Center.

The bottles the students collected will be recycled into fiber that can be used to make clothing.
