PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A northwest Portland man is facing numerous charges including luring a minor and third-degree attempted rape after he communicated online with undercover officers, according to police.

Thomas James Romine, 31, was arrested Wednesday by the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit.

Investigators said Romine responded to an online ad and attempted to lure a minor for sex acts. He was communicating online with undercover officers and did not have any actual contact with a child, according to police.

Romine was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of luring a minor, online sexual corruption, attempted use of a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, second-degree attempted sex abuse, third-degree attempted rape and third-degree attempted sodomy.

Officers served a search warrant at Romine's home and on his phone, and said evidence was recovered to corroborate the charges.
