PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Former Marine Joel Hibler stored his memories from his deployment in Iraq, accolades from serving in the military and photos of his travel overseas in a storage unit in North Portland.

Hibler said it’s been several weeks since he’s been to his storage unit and was surprised when he came Thursday.

“All my stuff was stuff was taken,” Hibler said. “Awards, commendations, a lifetime of stuff being accumulated.”

According to Hibler, his belongings were most likely taken between February 1 and March 1. He also said he was puzzled as to how someone was able to get to his property, since it did not look like anyone had tampered with the unit or lock.

Managers at National Storage Centers said the facility is equipped with alarms, specific codes to enter and security cameras.

Even with those measures, Hibler said still lost personal treasures.

“The stuff can’t be replaced,” he said. “Most of it will end up in the dumpster and I have no pictures, it was in the boxes.”

Hibler is asking for the public’s help to get his belongings back. Anyone with information on the missing items is asked to call the Portland Police Bureau.
