A community is mourning the loss of a local teacher who was killed in a car crash.

Stacie Ann Loose and her husband have been gathering pictures and memories.

"We keep waiting for him to just walk in the door," she said.

Loose's brother, 30-year-old Doug Bonham, died in a crash near Molalla Friday night, along with his passenger, 16-year-old Matthew Albrecht, a Silverton High School junior.

Bonham was a teacher at Bethany Charter School in Silverton, where he taught fifth and sixth grade.

"He loved Silverton," said Loose. "He loved his school. He told me, even if he won the lotto, he would go to work."

On Loose's husband's website, friends and former students shared their memories of Bonham, along with pictures. One student called him the best teacher she ever had.

"He was never off duty," said Loose.  "I knew as much about his students as I knew about my niece and nephew."

Bonham leaves behind a wife and two children. His sister created a GoFundMe page to try to raise money to help her brother's widow pay their mortgage.

She is also reaching out to those who knew her brother to share in mourning his loss.

"His door was always open to this community and I want people to know that they don't have to stay away,” she said. “If you want to stop by and grieve with us, come on."
