PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Crews responded to a fire at a recycling center in northeast Portland Monday morning.

The fire started at Metro Metals Northwest Inc. at 5611 NE Columbia Blvd. around 7:45 a.m.

Officials from Portland Fire & Rescue said some titanium had caught fire.

Crews were forced to throw sand on the blaze. Throwing water on a titanium fire would have made the fire bigger, according to firefighters.

Officials said there were no injuries and no structural damage to the building.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
