SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A wanted Salem home invasion suspect should be considered armed and dangerous after forcing his way into an elderly woman's home with a handgun, according to police.

Salem police detectives released surveillance images of the suspect Monday.

Police said the man forced his way into the woman's home on D Street Northeast shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Rhonda Fisher said she was sitting in her chair, crocheting, and watching television, when a man came up behind with a gun and demanded her purse.

"One minute he would say, I’m not going to hurt you, the next he’d say, I’m gonna kill you," said Fisher.

Fisher said she was able to run out of her house while the man was distracted and found someone with a phone nearby to call police.

The robber stole her car and took off before officers arrived at the scene. The vehicle was found abandoned nearby, and the suspect was caught on surveillance cameras after running away from the car.

Anyone who recognizes him or has any other information about this investigation is asked to contact Salem Police Detective Corporal Jake Burke at 503-540-2463.
