SHERIDAN, OR (KPTV) -

A Sheridan woman was arrested Monday afternoon when a search for a 4-year-old she was babysitting uncovered methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia within the child’s reach.

Jill Michelle Auxier, 50, was watching the child of a friend when she said she sat the child down to watch a movie and she went to take a shower.

She stated that when she came out of the shower she did not see the child in the living room, and after a search could not find the child anywhere in the home.

After Auxier looked for the child at a nearby school before returning to her home, teachers from the school contacted Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office to help with the search.

When the deputies arrived at Auxier’s home, they found the child hiding under a chair in the living room at the home. In addition to the methamphetamine found, officers determined that Auxier had been smoking marijuana in the bathroom while the child was alone in the living room.

Auxier was taken to the Yamhill County Jail and faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a minor.
